Ayurvedic Cooking: Ghee

Learn to prepare ghee, a fundamental tool for healing and digestion in Ayurveda. Ghee, or clarified butter, is simple to make and, once learned, will ensure you always have this staple on hand. The end product has all the milk solids removed and you are left with clear liquid oil - as such, ghee is lactose-free.

Traditionally, a spoonful of ghee is taken on dishes to aid in the digestion of food - the simplest and most important method for maintaining overall health in the body. Additionally, ghee is one of the most important anupanas, or methods by which herbal formulas are taken.
